LEJOG Day 5 – Glastonbury to Chepstow

Our accommodation in Glastonbury was a first floor apartment right on the High Street. Glastonbury is certainly a very eclectic city where we felt we arrived in a film set!

Anyway, the apartment was very nice, albeit that we had to carry everything up and down stairs.

We set off for the day’s ride which took us through Wells with it’s spectacular Cathedral. Then on through Cheddar Gorge which was a nice climb! On to Chew Stoke where we had lunch at the Stoke Inn.

From there we travelled towards Bristol. We went through the beautiful Ashton Park seeing walkers, cyclists, horses and fallow deer. Whilst in the Park, I managed to join our family video call which was really nice!

Then on to the spectacular Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Our second stop was at the Fox Inn, Easter Compton, which was closed, but we sat in the lovely garden and ate our snacks.

Finally on to the Severn Bridge which we rode across on it’s cycle path. The wind was quite gusty but it was exciting crossing over to Wales.

Our destination for the day was the Beaufort Hotel, Chepstow, where we met four kind gentlemen who were at a reunion and they donated to our cause!
