In contrast to the noisy Beaufort Hotel, our accommodation at The Old Terrace, Ludlow, was very peaceful and comfortable. We managed a good night sleep!
We set off with a chill in the air and a mist through the arch in Ludlow town centre and immediately encountered a bit of a climb!.
The route was quite undulating will gently rolling hills and troughs.
Our first stop was to be at Much Wenlock, but we encountered another road block telling us that even cyclists and pedestrians could not get through.
We obviously didn’t learn our lesson from the day before and decided to try and get through. This wasn’t successful! We had to retrace our route and follow a detour. A kind lady driver went ahead and texted us to confirm that the detour was passable! A silver lining was the lovely views on the detour with the sun peeping through with it’s warmth.
We arrived in Much Wenlock and had brunch at a nice little café called The Wenlock Smoothie. A kind couple donated to our fund raising!
The medieval town of Much Wenlock was apparently the home of the modern Olympics being founded by Dr William Penny Brookes!
After the break we headed to Ironbridge, then on to Little Wenlock. the afternoon was sunny and pleasant.
Our route totalled 100km passing through Market Drayton before reaching our accommodation, The Stables. We were tiring by the end and our final climb of the day was slow and long!
